Radio Work(starting in 1947): Bill appeared in various radio programs once he returned from the war.
My True Story(1955): Bill appeared on this radio serial that borrowed from real-life stories of people with struggles…mostly among married couples. The show was produced by ABC.
KPFK &KPFA Public radio(1960s-1970s): Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, Bill appeared on many programs that appeared on the public radio stations in California. He appeared mostly on a segment for children called “Time For Rhyme.”
ABC TV Interview (1965): Bill was interviewed about the upcoming third season of “The Farmer’s Daughter.” He was in a restaurant at the time. Cathleen Nesbitt was also interviewed. This was not for television but rather for radio news.
Bobbie Wygant Interview (1969): Bobbie Wygant was a well respected entertainment reporter for a tv station in Texas. She interviewed every star imaginable. She interviewed Bill in what looks like a public park. He was promoting his upcoming tv series “My World and Welcome To It.”
Airborne In Nottingham: The Impact Of An Elite American Parachute Regiment On An English City In World War II(1974): A book by David J. Pike about the 508th. Bill was interviewed and recalled, rather comically, how a Major tried to give Bill’s unit a pep talk before D-Day and ended up doing more damage.
University Almanac (November 27 – December 10, 1977): Bill gave an audio interview at the University of Georgia about his Thurber show.
Party Line(April 1982): Bill was a guest on this radio show airing on channel WEAQ in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. He was talking about his one-man show with host Peter Murphy.
D.L. Stewart Show(October 1982): Bill was a guest on this radio show for station WHIO in Dayton, Ohio.
Final Cut(1983): A detective noir book by Pamela Chais. It’s about the inner workings of Hollywood and when an agent is murdered, a former kiddie star-turned-detective is called in to investigate. Bill was mentioned in the book as being a B-star sitting by the pool.
National Cremation Society: Print Ads(1986): Bill was featured in print ads for the company. His final wish was that he be cremated and his ashes be buried under a memorial stone shaped like a rook, with a specially engraved marker, at the Windom Family Plot in D.C. The ashes are still with Bill’s widow.
The Star Trek Interview Book(1988): A book by Allan Asherman. He interviewed Bill extensively about his appearance on the show and his career.
Nightcrawlers: Stories From the Blue World(1989): Audio book. Bill read the stories, “Night Calls the Green Falcon,” “Night Crawlers” and “Yellow Jacket Summer.”
The Devil’s Tale(1992): A book by Zig Boroughs that tells the stories of the 508th regiment, 82nd airborne division. He interviewed Bill about his time in the Netherlands.
The “Murder, She Wrote” Cookbook(1997): Chock-full of recipes from the cast and crew. Bill contributed William Windom’s Last Meal…..Caviar & Grits with champagne. Just a few ingredients, albeit expensive ingredients needed. A compendium cookbook may soon be released (with some added recipes) by a “Murder, She Wrote” & “Columbo” fan.

The California Artists Radio Theatre: Yankee Doodle Dandies(2001). Radio Show. A star studded re-telling of American history. Bill played Christopher Columbus with an exaggerated Italian accent. Coincidentally, Christopher Columbus was the plot of an episode of “The Farmer’s Daughter.
Sudden Mischief: A Spenser Series(1999). Audio Book. Based on the character famously portrayed in the “Spencer, For Hire” tv series. He’s a Boston based P.I. Bill narrated the novel, doing all the voices. This is probably the first time audiences hear Bill drop several “F” bombs in a performance. What’s great about these books is Bill’s voice has an almost honey quality to it. His voice mellowed quite a bit with age and works perfectly for audio books.
Jacob’s Hand: A Fable. Audio book. A ranch hand learns he has the unusual gift of healing. Bill is one of the narrators and Burt Reynolds is the character Jacob.

Maps in a Mirror (1999): This audio book was a compiliation of short stories by author Orson Scott Card. It features the story “The Best Day” read by Bill.
The Farmer’s Daughter Remembered: The Biography of Actress Inger Stevens(2000). This book was written by a former private investigator named William Patterson. He interviewed Bill quite extensively about his relationship with Inger when they worked together on “The Farmer’s Daughter.”
The Best of Fantasy 2001: Audio Book. Bill read the stories, “Grass” and “Legerdemain.”
Jurgen: A Comedy of Justice(2002). Audio Book. Described as an epic voyage and erotic fable. Bill is one of the narrators.
A Tale of Two Cases: Right of Publicity Vs. The First Amendment(2003): A scholarly article Bill co-wrote with Dr. Sharlene L. McEvoy. It was published in the journal “Communications and the Law.”
RTX: Red Rock(2003): A video game for Play Station involving action on the red planet. Bill did the voice of a character named Augustus Wheeler, the grandfather of the main character.
Armies of Exigo(2004): A game created by Microsoft Windows. The idea was to build empires with various materials as well as research spells and upgrades. Bill voiced the character of an elder gnome aboard an Ark. He said several different lines when you clicked on him and utilized a pirate accent.
The Bennetts: An Acting Family(2004): A book by Brian Kellow. Bill talked about his experience touring with Joan Bennett when they worked in the play, “Bell, Book and Candle.”
SAG and AFTRA: The Case for Merger of the Entertainment Unions(2004): This article was published in “The University of Miami Law School Institutional Repository.” Bill was the co-author with Dr. Sharlene L. McEvoy. They later worked together on his autobiography.

The Washingtons: A Family History Volume 6 (Part 1)(2014): A book by Justin Glenn, it focuses on prominent politicians and traces their family tree. Bill and his family are featured in the book.
Tales From the Cult Film Trenches: Interviews with 36 Actors From Horror, Science Fiction and Exploitation Cinema(2014): A book by Louis Paul. He interviewed Bill about some of his most famous roles.
Classic Stories of the American West (2016). Audio Book. Bill read one of the stories called “The Outcasts of Poker Flats.” The story was written by western genre author Bret Harte. The same story was also featured on another audio book called “The Outcasts of Poker Flats.” This audio book features other stories besides Poker Flats and it came out in 2006.
